Frequently asked questions

How do I know if refinancing my mortgage is worth it?
Compare the interest you would pay on your current rate with the interest at the rates available to you now, then weigh that against any break costs, legal fees and cash contributions. Our review does the first part of that comparison for you in a couple of minutes.
Does refinancing reset my loan term?
It does not have to. You can keep the remaining term you have now, or keep your repayments the same and shorten the term instead. Our result shows both the interest difference and the possible time off your loan.
What does it cost to refinance in New Zealand?
Typical costs are legal fees for the new mortgage, a possible break fee if you are mid fixed term, and a valuation in some cases. Many lenders offer a cash contribution that offsets part of this, which an adviser can confirm for your situation.
Is this financial advice?
No. Everything on this site is indicative, general information only. Figures are estimates based on the details you provide and publicly available or supplied rate information, and are not guaranteed. If you need advice, speak with an appropriately licensed financial adviser.
Will anyone contact me?
Only if you ask us to. At the end of the calculator you choose whether you would like a mortgage adviser to get in touch, or whether we simply keep your details and let you know later if your position is worth revisiting.
