Frequently asked questions

Are these the rates I would actually get?
Advertised rates are the published starting point. The rate available to you depends on your equity, income and lender assessment, and lenders often price below their advertised rate for stronger applications.
How often do New Zealand mortgage rates change?
Lenders can change rates at any time, and often do within days of an Official Cash Rate announcement or a move in wholesale swap rates.
Should I fix or float my mortgage?
Fixing gives certainty of repayments for a set term; floating gives flexibility to repay lump sums. Many New Zealand borrowers split their loan across both, which an adviser can size for your situation.
Is this financial advice?
No. Everything on this site is indicative, general information only. Figures are estimates based on the details you provide and publicly available or supplied rate information, and are not guaranteed. If you need advice, speak with an appropriately licensed financial adviser.
Will anyone contact me?
Only if you ask us to. At the end of the calculator you choose whether you would like a mortgage adviser to get in touch, or whether we simply keep your details and let you know later if your position is worth revisiting.
